‘I’m teaching my 16yo to be a topless model'
Tuesday 17 January 2012
While most mums nag their teenage daughters to cover up, Annette Edwards encourages her 16 year old, Paige, to strip off – so she can fulfill her dream of glamour modelling.
Incredibly, the 60 year old, who once posed for Playboy, insists becoming a glamour model would be a brilliant career for Paige – who’s wanted to be a topless model since she was 10.
The OAP, who has 10 children, nine grandkids and one great-grandchild, first took Paige for a scantily clad photo shoot at 14. Two years on, she accompanies Paige to lingerie shoots and helps her practise topless poses at home.
Shockingly, she even strips to her undies with her daughter for photographers in the hope it will reignite her own career.
Annette spends £400 a month on Paige’s lingerie, fake tan, manicures and heels and coaches her to pose provocatively. She’ll even support the 32C teen’s decision to have a boob job at 18 if she doesn’t develop bigger breasts.
Annette, from Worcester, says: “I’m really proud when I see Paige modelling – she looks beautiful. She’s not too young or vulnerable as long as I’m with her. Girls in clubs wearing next to nothing are in more danger.”
She adds: “There’s nothing wrong with glamour modelling, as long as it’s tasteful, like Page Three and Playboy. It makes you feel sexy and powerful – and Paige is a natural. I’ve modelled lingerie with her and we plan to pose topless together when she’s old enough, too.”
Paige – who’s already made £2,000 from posing in lingerie for photographers, although her work hasn’t been published – adds: “Mum’s an inspiration – I’ve always wanted to be a glamour model. I enjoy the compliments and being in front of the camera. When I’m 18, I’ll go topless – the money’s good.”
However, Paige adds: “I’m not sure I’ll go topless with Mum, it might be embarrassing.”
Annette’s had £18k of surgery – including a face lift, cheek and chin implants, Botox and a boob job to go from a 36D to 36DD – and began modelling at 16.
She reveals: “I was doing sexy shoots for magazines. I loved it and my gran, who brought me up, supported me.”
She stopped when she married at 18 and later had six children, but began again after divorcing at 28, before having two more kids with a long-term partner. She then remarried and had another daughter, followed by Paige, her youngest, in 1995, before turning to modelling again – even posing for Playboy aged 45 when Paige was one.
She’s done glamour modelling ever since and insists Paige’s dad is proud of her achievements.
Worryingly, Paige was just 10 when she said she wanted to be a topless model. Annette says: “It didn’t worry me – she grew up knowing what I did. If the kids didn’t like it, tough, but Paige wanted to be like her mum.”
And when Paige turned 14, Annette stepped in to help her. She says: “I took her to a photographer friend to take some pictures in skimpy dresses. She was a natural – I felt so proud.”
Paige says: “I was nervous at first, but I got used to it. I like showing off my figure.”
Annette then began coaching Paige. She says: “I began teaching her how to walk, pose and pout seductively and hold her hands to cover her nipples.”
Annette spends around £400 a month on Paige’s grooming, but insists: “It’s an investment in her career – she has to look good.”
Since her first photo session, Paige has done lingerie shoots to build up her portfolio.
Annette says: “She’s not too young and she’s never on her own. People go topless on the beach – there’s nothing wrong with it. And it’s not for sleazy top-shelf magazines, it’s tasteful.”
And she’s not worried about Paige being ogled by men, saying: “She can handle herself. In a difficult situation she could say ‘no.’ I don’t even need to talk to her about sleeping with boys – she’s sensible.”
Annette says she hasn’t forced Paige, who has four GCSEs, including an A in English, into modelling, saying: “I gave her the choice to do A-levels, but she doesn’t want to. It’s important she follows her dream. The ultimate would be to appear in Playboy.”
Although Paige adds: “I’m thinking about going to college as a back-up, but Mum says I’ll get loads of work.”
Annette reveals she’ll be supportive if Paige wants surgery “as long as she goes to the right person.” She adds: “We’ll have to see how she develops – she’s a 32C, but she’ll need to be at least a D-cup.”
Some of Paige’s friends have turned against her, but Annette puts it down to jealousy and Paige says: “I just ignore it. It won’t stop me. I enjoy it.”
Annette adds: “Glamour modelling’s a great career. The compliments she gets are great for her self-esteem and the money’s good. I’ve been a good role model to her.”
Psychologist Dr Funke Baffour says: “The mum is treating her daughter not as a child, but as a sexualised object who poses for the admiration of men – and that’s completely wrong.
“In addition, her whole idea of who she is is based on lingerie and make-up – without that, who is she? This will damage her self-esteem – what’s inside doesn’t have the same importance and that’s very damaging. They should wait until she’s older to decide whether she wants to do this.”

fair anough trying to give her daughter confidence and showing her how beautiful she is but get a grip woman! I think her mum is only doing this because her body is going down south and she didnt get to fufill her dream. not fair to push her dream onto her daughter at all. I dont think theres any thing wrong in glamour modelling but surely a good mother would want her to pursue so much more in life.

That’s just wrong I am one of 14 and my mum would never ever let me do something like that at that age is just wrong it might be ok if she was like 18-19 then she can make up her own mind but not at that age she will be pregnant soon after all she has to follow mummy’s foot steps
