'I'm the Sunderland shagger's latest victim'

Keith macdonald is no stranger to sleaze – Closer has followed his trail of broken hearts and seven abandoned babies for several years.

But last year his fiancée Clare Bryant swore Keith, 24, nicknamed the Sunderland Shagger, had changed his ways.

However, Clare is now seven months pregnant with Keith’s eighth child and the jobless scrounger has done another runner.

“I thought I was different because he’d asked me to marry him,” says Clare, 21.

Keith’s failure to use contraception has so far cost taxpayers an estimated £70,000 but could end up closer to a £1million because all the mums are on benefits. Clare however insists she’ll get a job after she’s given birth to daughter Alexandra in April.

“I want to bring her up properly,” she adds.

Clare met Keith at his favourite pulling spot, Sunderland bus station, in March 2009.

She knew his reputation but incredibly still fancied him. He asked her out, and they had their first date at Greggs bakery.

When he proposed three months later Clare was convinced she’d managed to tame him and they moved into a two-bedroom house – paid for by housing benefits.

She says: “Instead of going out boozing, he spent lots of time at home with me. We talked about a big wedding and children.”

Just weeks later the couple, who never used contraception, discovered they were expecting a baby.

“I’d missed a period and hoped I was pregnant because I really wanted a baby,” says Clare. “My family said he’d be a rubbish dad but I wanted to prove them wrong.”

Keith said at the time: “I’ve quit booze and am looking for a job. I’ll never stray again.”

But within weeks, Keith came home after a night out with love bites on his neck.

She says: “Keith said they were from pinching games with his friends. I didn’t buy it, but I gave him a chance for the baby’s sake.”

But Keith’s drink binges sparked numerous rows until their landlord chucked him out.

“Neighbours complained about the noise so Keith moved into a two-bed house five minutes away,” says Clare of Tyne and Wear.

The couple had their rent paid for by housing benefits, and they lived on £50 weekly Job Seekers Allowance each.

Clare says: “I suspected he was cheating, but I was terrified of being a single mum, so I kept quiet. I even forgave him when I found him drunk with two girls at his flat.

“Pointing at one of them he said: ‘That’s my new girlfriend.’ I should have left him, but days later when he said he was sorry and he hadn’t cheated I stupidly believed him.”

The relationship finally ended on New Year’s Eve. “We were rowing about his drinking when Keith told me it was over and walked out,” she says. “I was upset, but when he turned up again a few days later I refused to take him back. I’ve realised he’s more interested in booze and meeting girls than getting married and being a dad.”

Clare is now preparing for life as a single mum but wants to go back to her job in a bar.

Clare adds: “Keith’s told me he doesn’t want to be on our baby’s birth certificate, which is sad – she deserves a dad – but I don’t need him. I can provide for our daughter.

“We haven’t spoken for six weeks, and I’ve heard he’s back with an ex. If it’s true, all I can say is good luck to her – she’ll need it.”

Last week, Keith said: “I don’t see my kids so why should I pay? I’m free and single.”
