Fifty Shades of Grey increases sex toy sales but who do you see as Christian Grey?

Bestselling erotic novel 50 Shades Of Grey is responsible for seeing the sale of sex toys increase by 400%!

Women everywhere are reading it – on the train, in coffee shops, on the bus, in the bedroom… and it seems that they're all keen to see what the fuss is about.

Readers of the explicit book have been out in their masses snapping up sex toys used by the main character, Anastasia Steele, in the graphically sexual novel, resulting in sales shooting up by a mighty 400 per cent!

It looks like fewer women are intimidated by sex shops and are instead feeling liberated by what they have to offer since being introduced to the genre of erotic fiction through 50 Shades.



Sex shop owners have the 50 Shades trilogy to thank for the massive boom in sales, with the book becoming the fastest-selling paperback of all time – beating Harry Potter and The Da Vinci Code.
                                        
Ladies have been inspired to become more adventurous within their sex lives following the graphic sexual scenes between the young and innocent Anastasia Steele and charismatic billionaire businessman Christian Grey, using a number of sex toys.

Ann Summers have reported an increase in sales of the sex toys which appeared in the books including blindfolds (up 60%), rope ties (35%) and paddles (up more the 30%). The big sellers, however, include Ana’s favourite sex toy: the jiggle balls, which are up a staggering 200% as it appears women want their very own Christian Grey effect.

“It comes as no surprise to me that 50 Shades of Grey has become such a phenomenon. The appetite for fantasy literature has never been more in demand. Women want to escape and curl up with a book that thrills them in more ways than one,” says Jacqueline Gold Chief Executive of Ann Summers.

“If this book helps women talk to each other about their relationships and spices up their sex lives, then let’s have more of it.”

With The Social Network producer duo Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti already on board to turn the book into an award-worthy movie, A-list names have been thrown about left, right and centre as to who should play central characters Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

With the likes of Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgard, Channing Tatum, Ian Somerhalder  and Justin Timberlake all being linked to the project, the movie is sure to have women running to the cinema as quickly as they sprinted to WHSmith to nab a copy of the book.
