Alesha Dixon: 'I’m not ready to become a mum just yet!
Wednesday 19 September 2012

We chat to Alesha Dixon about her career, motherhood and how she deals with internet trolls.
Her impressive career has seen her enjoy a string of top ten hits with girl band Misteeq and as a solo artist, win 2007’s Strictly Come Dancing and grace the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent.
But when it comes to her personal life, Alesh Dixon - who is currently the face of the new exclusive Impulse fragrance Sweet Smile – reveals that whilst she would love to start a family of her own some day, she’s not ready add ‘mum’ to her CV just yet.
She laughs: “I was chatting to a girlfriend the other day about whether it’s ok to start having children in your 40s because I can’t see myself being ready any time soon! I’d love to have children one day though. I think becoming a mother is one of the most important and special things you can do in life.”
And Alesha - who’s been reportedly offered a £100K to return as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent next year - admits that after facing spiteful comments from Internet trolls during her career, she’s thankful social media didn’t exist when she first rose to fame with girl group Misteeq in 2001.
She says: “I’m at a stage now where I can almost laugh when I receive a nasty comment from someone online. You have to have a thick skin in this industry.
“But at the beginning of my career, there was no Twitter, Facebook or MySpace so we thankfully never had to deal with the negativity and Internet trolls that young celebrities have to deal with now. If people didn’t like you back then, they just didn’t buy your records!”
Alesha is the face of Impulse fragrance SweetSmile, available exclusively from Superdrug stores from 29th August for RRP £1.99
