Alex Reid released without charge following arrest

Alex Reid has been released from custody without charge following his arrest on suspicion of criminal damage and using violence to secure entry.



Police attended the home that the 37-year-old cage fighter shares with girlfriend Chantelle Houghton in the early hours of Wednesday morning after she made a call reporting a disturbance at the property.

Neighbours reported hearing a screaming commotion between the pair as Alex attempted to gain entry into the property. One neighbour told a British newspaper, 'I could hear a man shouting and when I looked out I saw Alex Reid.

'He was screaming, "Let me in, f***ing let me in.” Other people living in the street must have woken up because I saw a few lights go on.'

There has since been a statement released on Alex’s official website in relation to the incident,

'In the early hours of this morning Alex was arrested at the address he shares with his partner, Chantelle Houghton after she called police following a disturbance.

'The reasons for Alex’s arrest have been widely publicised and in some cases inaccurate and based on conjecture.

'Alex considers this a private matter and therefore is not prepared to comment on it save to say that he assisted police with their inquiries and following that, the police have taken no further action.'

The couple’s 16-month relationship has been showing signs of strain since the birth of their daughter Dolly in June.

Chantelle, 29, has been discussing the relationship over the last few weeks in her magazine column and during an interview with a magazine this week she talked about the ‘strain and hurt’ she has been feeling saying,

'Things have been really strained. There's never a day without drama.'
