Andrew Lloyd Webber diagnosed with cancer
Monday 26 October 2009
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has been admitted to a London hospital after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The tragic diagnosis came as Webber was about to go into rehearsals for his sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, called Love Never Dies and he was promptly admitted on Saturday evening.
According to a spokesperson, the disease, which kills more than 27,000 men each year, has been detected in the early stages, so he has a better chance of a full recovery.
The Oscar-winning composer, 61, who has been a part of the theatre scene for over 25 years, is the genius behind musicals such as Cats, The Phantom of the Opera and The Sound of Music.
Britain’s Got Talent runner up, Susan Boyle, even became a worldwide sensation after her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables, which was penned by Andrew.
Webber reportedly hopes to be back at work by the end of the year.

Thank god it was diagnosed in time so that his chances are better, I hope he is soon well again! When you think of all the songs, musicals a music Andrew Lloyd Webber has created or been a part of, it truly would be a tragedy to lose his talent now - thoughts with his family too right now!
