Boyzone to sing at Stephen's funeral
Friday 16 October 2009
Boyzone are to give a musical farewell to former bandmate Stephen at the 33-year-old's funeral tomorrow.
The devastated band wish to give their beloved colleague and friend a heartfelt send-off by singing a song, which has yet to be decided by the boys and Stephen's family.
The Gately family solicitor said, 'it will be a very sad musical affair in tribute to his great musical talent.' An insider close to the band has said, 'it is what Stephen would have wanted.'
The four remaining members of the pop group are also expected to carry the casket along with two other family members.
Fans in their thousands are anticipated to line the streets of Dublin when Stephen's body is brought back from Majorca today.
Louis Walsh - the bands manager and long time friend of Stephen - has said, 'Dublin will come to pour its heart out'.
Among the funeral mourners expected are Louis Walsh, Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Westlife and the Bulgarian who found Stephen's body - Georgi Dochev.
Our thoughts are with Stephen's family and friends at this terrible time.
