Carol speaks out about bum
Friday 09 October 2009
After grabbing the headlines yesterday after wearing a figure-hugging Victoria Beckham dress, Carol Vorderman has spoken out about her battle with her curves.
The Countdown presenter, who will be 49 this year, said that she has struggled with the size of her bum for years, but has now learned to accept her figure.
"We all have, in my family,' what we call the 'Vorderman bottom' - a sticky out, bigger-than-normal signature of the rear variety", she wrote in the Daily Mail.
"By my age, you learn to put up with what you've got and what you can't really alter. If you want to look nicer, you get dimmer switches installed at home."
Carol has since been flaunting her hourglass figure, wearing a skin-tight Herve Leger bandage dress to this week's Pride of Britain Awards.
5ft 6in Carol is a size 10, but says that she looks like a 12-14 on camera: "The camera does lie - constantly - so... when you see a presenter on the box who looks like a size 8, they will be borderline bony in real life."
The presenter also spoke about her love for Victoria Beckham's designs, saying: "VB doesn't have a BB (big bum), but her dresses are very flattering for those who do."
We thought you looked fab yesterday, Carol!
Do you agree with Carol's thinking about body image? We certainly do, but let us know!

RE: Carol speaks out about bum
Fair play to Carol on speaking out regarding her feelings about her image, I think she looks great. However I have real issues with that VB dress...I think its dreadful the way it pulls the eye to the bum and back. How many people are comfortable drawing attention to that area? Too sexualized by far. ...... But Hoo Haa... only my opinion. <3
