Kerry Katona denies agent dumped her
Monday 20 June 2011
Last week we reported Kerry Katona was dumped by her agent, Can Associates – who also represent Peter Andre and Amy Childs – but the star has taken to twitter to state that it was her who left Can.
The reality TV star and former drug addict was allegedly dumped by the agency, which is headed up by Claire Powell, after she went on a six hour drinking binge with friends instead of attending Amy Childs 21st Birthday party.
However, Kerry insisted on twitter: 'Contrary to recent press reports, I was not 'dumped' by CAN Associates.
'It was my decision to leave, as on a professional level my career was taking a direction that I did not want, nor did I feel was appropriate.
'Furthermore on a personal level, I felt that my integrity had been compromised, as it was with Nicola Partridge before me.
'I have not taken any drugs in the last year and a half - and if anyone claims otherwise, I will sue without hesitation.'
CAN Associates ended their 15 month working relationship with the troubled reality TV star on Thursday and confirmed on Friday they were no longer representing her. They did not give a reason for the split.
Initially offering no further comment, The Mail Online confirmed that CAN later denied a newspaper report today that her recent partying had led to the decision to part ways.
As part of her contract with CAN, she was banned from using drugs and subjected to regular testing, and forbidden from reuniting with Croft.
Claire Powell recently told the The Mail Online: 'Kerry approached me six months ago to take her on but I refused while Mark was still around. I do not believe he has been a positive influence on her. If she is prepared to work hard and stay clean she has a great career ahead of her.'
Can’s sister company Can TV also produced her ITV2 reality show Kerry Katona: The Next Chapter.
What do you think we can expect from Kerry Katona next now she has left her agency?
