They’ve only been dating for seven months but Alex Reid and Chantelle’s whirlwind romance has turned a commitment corner, as Alex popped the question on Saturday night.
Despite not even being divorced from ex Katie Price yet, Alex took to the stage of live television show The Saturday Night Show to propose to his beau to which she replied ‘yeah!’
The couple have been known for moving fast, with both admitting that they would love to start a family together but many critics were adamant that this was just a showmance. Has Alex’s proposal proved them wrong – is this the real thing?
The couple were taking part in a joint interview in which they were discussing how they’re trying to conceive using IVF treatment.
The discussion prompted repeated offers by O’Connor for Alex to pop the question in front of the audience.
At first, Alex dismissed the prompts, saying that it wouldn’t be ‘romantic enough’ and he had been told to do it.
But just moments later, he looked at his girlfriend and said:
'We’re in Dublin, I haven’t got a ring, but you know what, I’m going to do it,'
'Seriously, nobody tell anyone! Will you marry me?'
Gushing and giggling she answered ‘yeah’, before the pair embarked on a passionate kiss that forced the camera to move back to O’Connor.
'You saw it here,' he said, 'the whole of Ireland wishes you the best for the future.'
