Charlotte's moving Jonnie in!
Tuesday 11 January 2011
After spending Christmas together and jetting off on a romantic break, Charlotte Church’s relationship with Jonathan Powell has stepped up a gear, with the star even telling pals: “I might have found The One.”
The couple, who have been dating for six months, had a wobble in December after Charlotte began to have doubts over her decision to split from ex-fiancé Gavin Henson.
But pals say the singer has done a U-turn in recent weeks, and is now considering asking Jonathan, 23, to move in to her new home near Cardiff.
“Before Christmas, Charlotte was feeling a little confused over her relationships,” says a source. “She and Gavin were getting on so well and she was on a bit of an emotional roller-coaster. It’s understandable – Gavin is the father of her children – but she came to the realisation they had split for the right reasons.”
Now after their pre-Christmas New York trip, and spending time together over the festive period, Charlotte and Jonathan have jetted off to St Lucia for a romantic break.
A friend tells Closer: “They really bonded over Christmas. Charlotte had been pushing him away while she was having doubts, but now things are great again. Jonny was so patient with her. He understood what she was going through and that brought them a lot closer.
“But while she’s talking about moving Jonny in permanently she wants to make sure she doesn’t repeat past mistakes. Charlotte knows she’s rushed into past relationships, moving boyfriends in quickly and then backing out when it goes wrong, but now her kids come first.”
Charlotte, 24, split from Saracens rugby player Gavin, father to her two children Ruby, three, and Dexter, two, last May. She started dating Jonathan – who plays guitar in her backing band – two months later.
But while she’s thrilled her love life is red hot again, she’s admitted to pals that she’s conscious she’s been putting on some weight.
Charlotte – who last week was forced to apologise for calling the Queen “an old woman” who has “no idea what’s going on” – dropped to a size 8 for her TV comeback last March, but is now back to a size 10-12 and is vowing to get fit again. But Jonny loves her curves.
And their shared interests are bringing them closer. A pal reveals: “He’s been teaching her the guitar and reading poetry. Even her mum Maria has described Jonny as ‘a keeper.’”
And pals reveal that Gavin, 28, has also given the couple his blessing. A pal says: “Gav knows they both need to move on and is happy for her as long as she’s happy. At the moment he chats to them over the internet when he’s at home in London, but he finds it tough and his worst nightmare would be the kids calling another man ‘Daddy.’”
Friends reveal Charlotte – who has made no secret of wanting more children – has even joked: “Jonny and I would have cute kids.”
She said last month: “It’s weird to think that [any more children] won’t be entirely related to my two children now. I’d also hate to think that Ruby and Dexter are the last time I’m ever pregnant. Because I loved the whole thing. I loved being pregnant, breastfeeding, having young children. It’s the best thing in the whole world.”
