Rooney

Coleen ‘Put your family first or I’ll leave’

Tuesday 26 October 2010

Just when coleen Rooney thought it couldn’t get any worse, her life was turned upside down last week by Wayne threatening to leave Manchester and uproot the family, causing angry fans to form a mob outside her home.

As terrified Coleen sheltered baby Kai and police dispersed the balaclava-clad mob outside their home, she put her foot down and let rip at the footballer: “Your family comes first now or it’s over!”

Insiders say Coleen persuaded Wayne, 25, to make a sudden U-turn after he announced he wanted to leave Manchester United over potential multimillion-pound offers from Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

But he chose Coleen and Kai over his career after she issued him with an ultimatum last week and stayed with his old club.

A source tells Closer: “Coleen told Wayne that he has to start doing the right thing by her and their son, or he’ll be out the door. She told him that she was not prepared to uproot their family to live in Spain or even go down south to London, away from her family and support network just when she needs them most.

“Wayne doesn’t want to lose Coleen so he told her: ‘I will protect you and you’ll be safe. Don’t be angry with me.’”

Pals say terrified Coleen, 24, has been driven to the brink by the frightening backlash against Wayne – who has now signed an estimated £300,000-a-week five-year deal to stay with United – just two months after being hit by allegations that her husband cheated on her with a prostitute.

Shaken Coleen was trapped inside their £4m Cheshire mansion with Wayne and their 11-month old son Kai, as 40 furious fans, some wearing balaclavas and holding banners saying “Join City & Die,” crowded at the gates to intimidate the family and buzzed repeatedly on the intercom last Thursday night.

The footballer was also bombarded with a series of threatening messages on the internet. One read: “He’d better watch out. He won’t live to wear the shirt again!” While another was: “Rooney doesn’t do loyalty. Ask Everton. Ask the England Fans. Ask his wife!”

A source says: “Coleen couldn’t believe her eyes – it was the last straw she could possibly have wanted. She’s fiercely protective of Kai and doesn’t want to live in fear of being targeted.

“She’s spent the last week crying and having sleepless nights, worrying about what decision Wayne would make.

She’s spent hours in tears to her mum Colette and is basically knackered.”

The source adds: “One or two of her friends have suggested that she takes sleeping pills to get some rest, but she’s too worried that she won’t hear Kai crying if she’s zonked out. Instead, Coleen’s taking Kalms, a herbal remedy, to take the edge off everything and get a few hours sleep.”

Insiders say sad Coleen has told Wayne – who allegedly had a threesome with hooker Jennifer Thompson, 21, and her pal Helen Wood, 23, last year – that he needs to put all his energy into saving their marriage after everything he’s put her through.

A pal says: “Coleen’s just about had enough. She’s told Wayne that he should count his blessings that she’s still around and he needs to think about working on their marriage long-term.

“She’s told her friends and family that she’ll never take him back if he cheats again, saying: ‘I won’t be hanging around for a hat-trick!’ He knows he’s skating on very thin ice.”

Sources say Coleen was worried that if Wayne signed with Real Madrid, she’d be forced to uproot her family to Spain – away from parents Tony and Colette, who she is very close to, as well as her beloved disabled sister Rosie, 12, in Liverpool.

A source says: “Coleen’s incredibly close to her family and she can’t bear to be a flight away from them. She says Wayne is always away training or playing so she’d get lonely without them nearby.

“She loves the idea of Kai going to a local school in Liverpool like a normal child.”

And pals say Coleen is relieved that Wayne won’t be moving to London to play for Chelsea – home to Ashley Cole and John Terry.

An insider says: “She’s already warned Wayne that if he goes to London, she won’t be going with him and she didn’t think their marriage would survive.

“Coleen told Wayne that she couldn’t trust him when he didn’t have his old friends and family to somehow try to keep him reined in. She thinks Wayne would have been too easily influenced by the London players and the temptations of the scene there.”

But now the United deal is signed and sealed, Coleen is trying to put her worries aside and will put on a brave face at Wayne’s 25th birthday party, due to take place on Sunday.

A source says: “Coleen is determined to try to enjoy herself. She’s invited up to 300 friends and family for a celebration at their house so they can try and forget the last week’s events.

“She wants to make it a really special day. Wayne has said he will thank her afterwards for being the most amazing ‘woman, wife and mother.’”

And the source tells Closer: “Coleen has told Wayne: ‘I want us to show everyone that we’re strong together and you’re focusing on making our marriage work.’ She’s praying that he can finally turn over a new leaf.”
