Antony Cotton and Jack Shepherd in Twitter row
Tuesday 31 January 2012
A Twitter war-of-words erupted recently between Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton and Jack P Shepherd. Antony, who plays barman Sean Tully in the soap, was not happy when bad-boy David Platt actor, Jack had a dig at him for using the social networking site to name drop his celeb buddies, including Emma Bunton and Kylie Minogue.
Antony, 36, tweeted: ‘T'wat tweet do you specifically refer, young Master Shepherd? If you want to get shady then I'll throw some shade...’
He then referred to Jack as being, ‘as thick as a Yorkshire brick’ and told him he was ‘out of his depth.’ But he hadn’t finished putting the 24-year-old back in his place yet. Antony continued to say: ‘And #realise you little irritant - you need the money more than me.’
Jack responded by writing: ‘That’s not banter that's an insult, what has money got to do with being a #Cringe.’
After fellow Corrie star Ryan Thomas intervened, Antony – who appeared in last year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here with former TOWIE boy Mark Wright – claimed his new friend had stolen the limelight from Jack and Ryan.
He added: ‘And you @ryanjamesthomas have a lot of time on your hands now that my lovely friend @MarkWright_ has hoovered [sic] up all your PAs #needanewjob.’
Despite the exchange of words the three boys seemed to have been winding each other up in good spirits, with Antony tweeting: ‘Breaking News!!! @ryanjamesthomas @JackPShepherd and I have a sense of humour. I know!!! Outrageous!!!’
Carrying on the joke, Antony tweeted: ‘I called @ryanjamesthomas and @JackPShepherd88 to my office first thing this morning and they issued this statement – “We apologise unreservedly to the old boot. We promise to make him cups of tea whenever he wants.” I was unavailable for comment.’
