Victoria Beckham

David tells Victoria ‘we barely see each other’

Tuesday 31 January 2012

With her fashion career flying high and her perfect family finally completed by her longed-for little girl six-month-old Harper, Victoria Beckham should be feeling happier and more content than ever.

But the usually composed mum-of-four has told friends she’s struggling to cope with her increasingly heavy workload – and sources say husband David, 36, is growing more frustrated by the lack of quality time they spend together as a family.

And sources say 37-year-old Posh’s constant work trips away have caused tension with David, which came to a head when she returned to the family’s LA home last week, after several weeks of working and seeing family in the UK.

A source says: “David fully supports Victoria’s career, but he was unhappy she’d stayed behind in London so long after he went back to LA with the boys so they could get back to school.

“Victoria says she’s being torn in a hundred different directions and is consumed with work right now.

“She has so much to do before she flies to New York Fashion Week in a couple of weeks for the showcase of her A/W collection and, after so much time in London with family over the holidays, she’s playing catch-up. There were some last-minute changes to the range, so she had to stay in London longer than anticipated.

“She flew back to LA last week but, with so much going on, she’ll be off to New York with Harper in no time, which is hard because she desperately misses the boys. When she’s away, she phones David and the boys as much as possible and tries to Skype them every day.”

Another source reveals David has told Victoria that he sometimes feels the couple are living almost separate lives, saying: “David is more in love with Victoria than ever, however, he said he feels like they barely see each other any more, apart from rare days ‘here and there,’ because of her busy schedule.

“He said that, over the past six months, she’s been away working so much, there’s rarely time for family days out or just spending quality ‘couple’ time together at home.

“Even when she’s at home with them, he said she’s so taken up with either Harper or her work.”
A source adds: “Victoria is heartbroken David feels like this and has told him she’s going to make sure they see more of each other as a couple this year.”

Victoria is due back in the UK for events in late February, but sources say David will not be joining her and wants her to reassess her work/life balance for the sake of the family – including sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and
six-year-old Cruz.

A source says: “He said he can count on one hand the number of times they’ve had a family day out in the past few months.

“But Victoria insists that, while she’s busy, she always makes time for the children and they come first. Victoria has told David in no uncertain terms that, despite him wanting to try for their fifth and final child this year, she’s not ready to have another one just yet.

“She said she feels constantly guilty about splitting her time fairly and giving each of their children enough attention. With that on top of work commitments and a marriage, she can’t split herself any more than she is at the moment.

“Victoria is stressed. When she was in her London office, she said she felt so anxious about the fashion show that at one point she thought about not going to New York so she could spend time with her family in LA, but everyone persuaded her she should go.

“Victoria’s trying her best to keep her family together right now, as well as please everyone and concentrate on her work, but she feels as if she’s constantly juggling so many balls and there’s only so much she can manage.”
