Gav begs Char: 'Don't move on yet!'

Rumours about Charlotte Church’s friendship with Jonathan Powell continued to grow last week, but pals say Gavin Henson is begging her not to move on yet.

Friends of the rugby star, 28, say he was so upset he called Charlotte, 24, after reading reports that she was getting close to fellow musician Jonathan, who’s believed to have stayed over at her new Cardiff home at least once
over the last few weeks.

A source tells Closer: “Gav called Charlotte and begged her not to move on with someone else, saying he still loved her and it was too soon after the split. But Charl accused him of trying to interfere in her life.

“Gavin’s friends are telling him to put on his glad rags and go out to enjoy himself, but he just keeps saying: ‘What if he [Jonathan] is there now with my kids, playing house?’”

Charlotte – mum to Ruby, two, and Dexter, one – has known Welsh singer-songwriter Jonathan, 23, for years, after meeting him when he worked behind the bar at her mum’s Cardiff pub, The Robin Hood.

The pair have recently been recording tracks for her new album, and last week  sang together at ex-Hear’Say member Noel Sullivan’s 30th birthday bash.

The source adds: “Gavin had met Jonathan before. He said he never saw this coming.”
According to Jonathan’s agent, the pair are set to fly to New York together to promote Charlotte’s new album.

The source says: “Gavin hates the idea of Charlotte taking Jonathan and the kids to New York. Gav wants to look after the kids when she goes away, but she’s said they’re going with her.

“Friends are worried about Gav as he has been really upset. He fears the rumours are true, and says there is no smoke without fire.”

Meanwhile, Charlotte’s representative has denied she is in a relationship with Jonathan saying: “As far as I know they are just work colleagues.”

But friends of the singer claim she is enjoying a romance with him.

A pal tells Closer: “It’s still unclear as to Charlotte’s true emotions – she’s very good at covering up a secret, but we know what’s going on. It’s nothing heavy, just a bucket- load of chemistry!

“Charlotte and Jonathan’s closeness has definitely stepped up a gear from just good pals to a more touchy-feely, tactile friendship.

The source adds: “But Charl is just as sensitive to any news about Gavin being out with other women and won’t want to rub salt into any wounds.

“Whatever is going on, it’s not yet serious. It shook Gav up, but when they met to exchange the kids last week, it was all very civil and friendly. He’s missing her a lot.”
