Geri Halliwell discusses how to party at 40, the Spice Girls reunion and her new man
Monday 20 August 2012
Geri Halliwell has opened up about her desire to find love.
While she admits she was a late starter on the romance front, she is keeping coy about a new man in her life. ‘I'm not going into details,’ Geri told a British magazine.
‘Right now there's nothing serious. I was a late starter on the romantic front. I didn't start dating until I was in my 30s.’

Geri celebrated her 40th birthday on August 6th
Geri split from boyfriend of three years, Henry Beckwith, in 2011 though the pair remain friends. She has never confirmed the father of her daughter Bluebell Madonna, 6, though some reports suggest it is British journalist Sacha Gervasi.
Geri turned 40 a few days before performing with her former Spice girl band mates at the Olympic Closing Ceremony last week.
She spent her 40th birthday rehearsing with Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown and went for a celebratory dinner in the evening with her mother and daughter Bluebell. The date of the Olympic Closing Ceremony was particularly moving for the singer, as it was her late father’s birthday.
Laurence Halliwell died 6 months before the Spice Girls were formed, when Geri was only 21. She described performing at the Olympics on his birthday as ‘sweet and poignant’.

The girls put their past differences aside, and made Geri’s birthday particularly special for her by buying her a cake, presents including a necklace, and singing. Geri spoke fondly of the girls, saying ‘No matter what's happened in the past, we love and accept each other. I always laugh most when I'm around them.’
It seems the ex Ginger Spice is now focusing on her love life and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Despite partying into the early hours of the morning at George Michael’s house with the Gallaghers and all her former band mates, excluding Victoria Beckham, Geri insists she did not drink. 'If I'm going to find the balance of being a mum and having a social life, I just can't put a hangover in there.'
Looking to the future she says, 'I quite like having somebody to cuddle. I like that intimacy, it would be wonderful.'
