Beyonce's Grammy triumph
Monday 01 February 2010
Pop stars turned out for the biggest event of the music year last night - The Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. And there was plenty of gossip...
A-listers Beyonce Knowles, Lady GaGa, Britney Spears and Taylor Swift all strutted their stuff down the red carpet - some looking better than others.
Beyonce very clearly was the winner of the night - but not just for scooping up six of the coveted awards!
Changing her outfit no less than three times, Bey vowed fans in a short nude zip-front Stephane Rolland gown, before changing into a futuristic metal number to accept one of many awards for Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), which was named as Song Of The Year!
Sexy Mrs Z also won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Halo and celebrated her success with a powerful performance on stage - for which she changed AGAIN into a breathtaking leather mini, complete with studded corset.
Joined by a number of dancers dressed as futuristic soldiers, Beyonce sung a medley of songs, including If I Were a Boy, whilst crawling on the stage on all fours and at one stage doing a Michael Jackson-esque crotch-grab.
Meanwhile, Britney set tongues wagging - but not for her musical achievements.
The Circus singer looked as though she’d escaped from the big-top in an unflattering sheer lace Dolce & Gabbana dress over a black bodysuit. The clingy outfit left her looking frumpy and bumpy, rather than sexy and slim.
The former teen queen jetted in from Miami- where she is recording a new album- accompanied by on-off-back on (?) boyfriend Jason Trawick, which led to speculations about a possible reunion! Please let it be true!
Then there was everbody's favourite fashion shocker Lady GaGa, who didn't disappoint in a selection of wacky outfits!
The 23-year-old, who opened the awards with her mega-hit Poker Face, looked more outrageous than ever as she sauntered up the carpet in a celestial Armani Prive lilac gown with bejewelled platform heels.
With bright yellow dip-dyed hair and clutching a spiked metal star sculpture in her hand, GaGa looked as though she’d beamed into LA from outerspace.
Teenage country singer Taylor Swift, on the other hand, could have given fellow celebs some style tips as she turned up in a stunning glittery off-the-shoulder blue Kaufmanfranco dress.
But when it came to the awards, the 19-year-old won more Grammys than she could handle and ended up dropping one in front of photographers!
Despite the embarrassment, Taylor left smiling with her four awards, including Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal. At least this time she didn't have to ward-off Kanye West.
