Former neighbours actress Holly Valance and property tycoon Nick Candy tied the knot this weekend in a £2 million (and rising) wedding celebration. It was a star-studded event with performances from Katy Perry and the Jersey Boys, and among the guests were an eclectic mix consisting of Simon Cowell, Nancy Dell’Olio, Elton John, Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and artist Tracey Emin.
The spectacle took off on Thursday with a big meet-and-greet party hosted by Candy on the top of Soho House in LA. Following that was the official party at Paramount Studios, which was organised as a surprise for his Bride-to-Be. The guys from the Jersey Boys – which is Holly’s favourite musical – were flown in for the occasion for a private show whilst a special screening, featuring her parents and close friends recording a version of the song “Most Beautiful Girl in the World”, was shown in her honour.
The 29-year-old Kiss Kiss singer wore a unique wedding dress thought to have cost in excess of £35,000. The J’Aton Couture gown was a mixture grey and ivory, and was complete with a ragged hemline and sweetheart neckline. Her bouquet was made up of ‘black magic’ calla lilies.
Some guests were said to be tutting over her dress, which revealed Holly’s ample cleavage, but Candy couldn’t take his eyes off his beautiful wife. Her look was finished off with a rather elaborate 15ft white lace.
The 39-year-old billionaire certainly pulled out all the stops for their big day, which took off in Beverly Hills. The guests were picked up at their hotel and ferried off in blacked-out people carriers to watch the nuptials. Simon Cowell, however, declined that transportation and came in his own Rolls Royce. Later in the evening a barbeque was served before cocktails and dancing ended the night. Each guest was invited back the next day for a pool party and a ‘recovery’ barbeque.
Rather unconventionally, the guests were asked to pay for their own accommodation as well as their flights and were requested to stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where the cost of the rooms start at a stratospheric £380 a night. However Candy didn’t spare the pennies in any other areas, with the final bill reported to have come in at between £2.5 and £3 million.
The pair got engaged last December on holiday in the Maldives where Nick asked the staff to spell out “Will You Marry Me?” in fire in the sand. The overjoyed Valance of course said yes and received a gigantic pear-shaped rock that sits proudly on her ring finger along with her wedding band.
Holly has since changed her Twitter handle to Hollycandy.
