The EMAs red carpet review

Friday 06 November 2009

The MTV European Music Awards took place last night, and we knew we could rely on the stars to give us something to look at in the style stakes!

Katy Perry was her usual show-stopping self at the event, which took place in Berlin, going through a whopping 12 outfit changes during the ceremony.

Katy, who was the night's host, also paid tribute to new fella Russell Brand by wearing a sexed-up version of his favourite team West Ham's home kit, which had 'Rusty' - Russell's nickname - emblazoned on the back.

Russell responded to this on his Twitter site after being inundated with messages from fans, saying 'Yes I will be taking her to a game - West Ham vs Everton. And, before it begins, no I won't be taking her up the Arsenal.'

Other outfits worn by Ms Perry on the night included a fancy Marchesa gown, a ringmaster's outfit, a piece of S&M-style corsetry and a prom dress with chunks missing from it (we don't know why, either).

Beyonce also turned a few heads at the event last night, as she was first seen wearing the black 'dustbin lid' dress that Cheryl Cole had rocked on The X Factor a few days previously.

She changed into a raunchy red number, complete with matching suspenders, for a phenomenal performance.

There was no Kanye West-related controversy surrounding the Halo singer this time, though, with Katy deciding to make fun of the actor instead. Pixie Lott MTV Europe

When Kanye's nomination for Best Urban Act was announced, Katy interrupted it, saying that Taylor Swift had one of the best nomination interruptions of all time.

The award was then given to Beyonce's husband Jay-Z, who accepted the award gracefuly. Beyonce also picked up the awards for Best Female, Best Song and Best Video.

Newcomer Pixie Lott also picked up an award for 'Best Push Artist' and looked like a red-carpet pro in her little black dress.

Also in attendance that night were Leona Lewis, Joss Stone, Shakira, Lil Kim, Juliette Lewis, Green Day and U2. David Hasslehoff MtV Europe

Our personal highlight of the night, however, was David Hasselhoff's attendance!

Rocking the red carpet in an ultra-stylish sequinned jacket and tie, his appearance went down a treat among fans and photographers for the show.

The Hoff looked back to his best after his recent troubles that allegedly saw him attack a doctor following a reported boozy bender in London!

According to insiders, organisers were trying their best to avoid another alcohol-induced disaster by clearing the mini bar in his hotel room of all booze!

Aaaah... give the man a break! He's a legend!!

As always, we want your opinions on outfits, acts, winners, losers... and, of course, The Hoff!
