Kerry: ‘I’ll never take Brian back!'

Tuesday 10 May 2011

After yet another romance ended in tears two weeks ago, unlucky-in-love Kerry Katona has told Closer she’s off the dating scene – and definitely won’t be reuniting with her newly single ex Brian McFadden.

The reality star’s latest love, Dan Foden, publicly dumped her last month blaming a lack of chemistry – just weeks after her ex-husband Brian ended his four-year engagement to Australian singer Delta Goodrem.

But despite the timing, Kerry – who separated from Brian after two years of marriage in 2004 – claims there’s no chance they’ll get back together, though pals tell Closer she’s been turning to him as a shoulder to cry on following her split from Dan.

Defiant Kerry told us at FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women In The World party: “After everything that’s happened, I’m genuinely happy to be single. I don’t need a man. I’m going to concentrate on my kids and get the support I need from my girlfriends.”

Asked about her renewed friendship with Brian, Kerry, 30, added: “My whole relationship with him ended seven years ago and that seems like another lifetime now. Once you’ve been burned, you don’t go back. It’s not going to happen.”

In 2007, Brian admitted the marriage had been a “sham” and was over before the big day after he had a one-night stand with a lapdancer on his stag night. Following their acrimonious split in 2004, the couple stopped speaking and were involved in various public slanging matches.

But they appeared to have put their feud behind them last summer after Brian, 31, visited Kerry’s Surrey mansion to drop off their daughters, Molly, nine, and Lilly-Sue, eight.

And pals say Kerry  – who’s divorcing her second husband Mark Croft, dad to her two other children, Heidi, four, and Max, two – still seems to hold a torch for Brian, despite her putting on a front.

A source says: “Kerry’s been turning to Brian since her split with Dan. Her chats with him have given her a lift. Brian’s just offering her a shoulder to cry on, but everyone’s worried she’ll see it as something more. No one wants her to be let down again.”

Talking about Brian last year, Kerry admitted: “I tried replacing him with Mark, but when I saw him I thought: ‘I never really got over you!’ He was my knight in shining armour. I’ll always love Brian.”

Cruel Dan, 28, who appeared on ITV1 dating show Take Me Out earlier this year, humiliated Kerry last week after revealing their six-week relationship had no “spark.” He said: “My friends said to stick at it and be the next Alex Reid, but I think I could have stomached Katie Price a bit longer. I couldn’t do it physically. I didn’t have that level of attraction.”

Despite publicly insisting she’d never get back with Brian, privately Kerry’s said to be pushing for face-to-face meetings with him over the kids.

A pal says: “She’d even like a reconciliation holiday in the hope something might develop now Brian’s single. She knows her management would back her because it means more publicity.

“But Brian’s oblivious – as far as he’s concerned, it makes a nice change that they’re getting on, but there’s no way he’d consider getting back with her.”
