Leona Lewis was left shocked and shaken yesterday after a fan assaulted her at an event.

21-year-old Leona had been at a signing for her new book, Dreams, which was attended by hundreds of fans in London's Piccadilly Circus.

According to sources, a male fanatic of Leona's waited his turn and asked Leona to sign the book before punching her.

One fan told the BBC: 'He walked up there with the book, she signed it and, as she looked up, he just punched her.'

Another source said that the man was then dragged away by security, grinning and shouting 'I love you, Leona!' to which Leona responded 'I don't love you.'

The 2006 X Factor winner was then seen leaving the event in tears flanked by security, while her attacker was restrained by police.

A police spokesperson later confirmed that the incident had taken place: 'We were called at 4.35pm to reports of assault against a woman at the Waterstone's store in Piccadilly Circus.

'We have arrested a male on suspicion of ABH', the spokesperson added.

Leona had been scheduled to appear on BBC's The One Show after the signing, but had to cancel her performance as she was too shaken up.

Who would do that to Leona?! What do you think will happen to this guy?

Why punch Leona who's so nice and endearing and not Jordan?
He could have used Jordan's big botoxed head as a punching bag if he wanted to! Poor judgement on his part!

I was almost tempted to write on my comment ".........Jordan is another matter, why not hit her instead" but I thought I'd better not because I am feeling out of sorts today and cant be arsed with the backlash of Jordan's 2 or 3 fans. I don't condone violence though.........exceptions can be put in place sometimes though don't you think!

Thats so disgusting its understandable why most celebs dont go anywhere without security when u hear things like this happening. He could so easily have stabbed her or shot her which makes it even more scarier, shes so lovely cant understand why he did it

It's terrible what happened to Leona but I can't believe some of you are suggesting this crazy person should punch Jordan instead - You're all mad. I still don't understand this Jordan Hate Campaign, still not sure what's she's actually done that is so hideous. Has she been mugging old ladies or killing people & I missed it ???
