Madonna's accused of glamourising drugs
Friday 30 March 2012
Madonna has surrounded herself in controversy this week after being accused of glamourising drugs at a recent concert.
DJ Deadmau5 branded Madonna a 'f****g idiot' after she asked the crowd how many of them had 'met molly' as she introduced Swedish DJ Avicii to the stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami on Saturday.
The word 'Molly' is used as slang term for the drug MDMA, however the Material Girl singer has insisted that her comments have been taken the wrong way...
Madonna took to Twitter to air her concerns. She posted a photoshopped picture of herself wearing Minnie Mouse ears, writing: 'From one mouse to another I dont support drug use and i never have.
'I was referring to the song called Have You Seen Molly written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my album.'
Deadmau5 - real name Joel Thomas Zimmerman - then responded to the tweet: 'Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as I usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally... regardless, just be a little more aware of what you should represent at EDM events, and I'll watch my mouth.'
To which Madonna replied: 'Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up 'privately.' ;) See you on the road.'
Madonna only joined Twitter this month, but it seems that she's getting her fair share of stick already! Piers Morgan has also tweeted the singer reminding her of his ban from his shows.
He Tweeted: ‘Welcome to Twitter. You’re still banned from my show. Love Piers X.’
Ouch!
And if you think that’s enough controversy for one week, think again. Her beloved daughter, Lourdes Leon was spotted with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth this week, at the tender age of 15.
She was caught puffing away on the cigarette whilst hanging out with male friends in New York City - despite the legal age being 18 in the US.
