Madonna takes children back to Malawi
Wednesday 28 October 2009
Madonna has brought her children on a visit to Malawi to tie in with her charity events, but stirred up a little controversy along the way.
The 51-year-old singer had previously vowed to make sure that adopted children David Banda and Mercy stayed in touch with their native culture despite moving to England.
She also made the visit to launch the construction of a school that is being built in the name of her charity Raising Malawi, posing for photos with locals and planting trees along the way.
However, controversial rumours arose during her visit, alleging that Mercy couldn't remember her native language after just four months of being out of the country.
She also may have rattled a few Malawian fans after she popped in to the Home of Hope orphanage, from which she adopted David Banda, at the end of her visit.
After spending time with the children, Madonna was spotted waving goodbye through her car window - but accidentally waved with the hand that was holding a bottle of hand sanitiser.
We're sure there wasn't any offense meant, kids!
How can Madonna make sure Mercy doesn't forget her native language?

I carry a bottle of that stuff with me in my bag,i can't see what the problem is!...she probably just didn't want to pick any germs up & pass them on to anyone, nevermind herself!
It must be so confusing for Mercy reguarding languages, one min she's in her own country speaking the language, the next she's in the States listning to all sorts, poor kid. Madonna should make sure she has regular lessons in her own language so she never forgets.

She's helping them! Giving the children a better life and improving the community that they came from! What's the problem! I carry hand sanitiser with me as well. It's not offensive.
