Noel Gallagher in talks for US X Factor
Wednesday 15 December 2010
The final of X Factor saw record breaking audiences of 19 million and we as a nation were transfixed by the talent competition.
Therefore, we are just chomping at the bit in anticipation of the US X Factor. Who will be on the judging panel? Who will be the advertisers? How will American audiences adapt to the judge/mentor dynamic?
Gossip seems to be circulating the showbiz rumour mill like crazy and today we heard a right corker. Apparently, rock star Noel Gallagher is in the early stages of talks to appear as a judge on the US show. Say what?!
Simon Cowell is said to be keen to upstage his former show American Idol, who have recently recruited Aerosmith rocker, Steven Tyler, on the judging panel.
A source confirmed:
Simon wants to go one better than “American Idol”, who have Steve Tyler, and has set his heart on British rock ‘n’ roll royalty – with Noel and Mick top of his shopping list. . .
‘Simon is a huge fan of Noel’s songwriting and the no-nonsense attitude Oasis brought to Britpop in the 90s. He’d be great to dish out feedback.’
However, before we get our hopes up on the sharp tongued Mancunian dishing out harsh criticism to aspiring American talent, Noel has yet to display any enthusiasm over the TV talent shows and has previously rejected offers for an Oasis night on the UK X Factor.
Still, we’re holding out a teeny bit of hope. With Noel and Cheryl on board, we cannot wait to watch American audiences struggle to make sense of both strong northern accents. Subtitles anyone?
In UK X Factor news, ITV bosses are apparently not happy with Cowell's decision to put the show on hold for the year as he launches the US format. Now the top bosses are claiming the show will go on with or without him.
What do you think about the US X Factor?
