The original members of Sugababes are back! And they go by the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan

Friday 20 July 2012

The original Sugababes

The Sugababes have undergone numerous transformations in recent years resulting in a group without any of the founding members. And so original bandmates Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy are making a comeback with a new album later this year, donning the new title Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

This fresh start see’s the trio reuniting for the first time since their 2000 album One Touch, and it appears they have put the past behind them and forgotten their former differences to focus on their musical comeback.

The band shared a number of pictures on Twitter which show them at ease with each other and joking about.

Although the original trio founded the name Sugababes, it’s now the property of their former record label and still belongs to the current embodiment of the Sugababes which is made up of Heidi Range, Jade Ewen and Amelle Berrabah.

Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan signed a £1million deal with Polydor Records in April 2012, and are currently working on their first album as the newly formed Mutya Keisha Siobhan.

Emeli Sande has confirmed that she is working with the band.

“What we've done so far sounds great. They're going to make people stand up and notice,' she said.

Siobhan was the first to leave the band in 2001 after just one album and was replaced with Heidi Range.

Mutya then departed in 2005 due to personal reasons, and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah.

Finally, the last original member, Keisha, took the plunge and left the band in September 2009 after a reported fall-out with Amelle, and Jade Ewen took her place.

Amelle said in a radio interview at the time: “It was happening for a long time. We couldn't try any more. We couldn't do any more.

“I don't want to go too into it because I can't be a****, but basically me and Heidi got to the point where we couldn't try any more or do any more.

“We just had enough and couldn't help the situation.

“That's in the past - Jade's here and a great singer and we're just really excited. We wish Keisha all the best.”
