Wednesday 26 January 2011
Ahhh...Looks like a big congratulations is in order for the lovely Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, as they welcom their first child together into the world.
According to Spanish newspaper El País, the 36-year-old actress gave birth at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. It is believed Penélope delivered a son, although the private couple have not yet confirmed the gender or name yet.
Sources told website X17 that Penélope arrived at hospital to give birth on Monday. The couple married in an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas back in July last year, having been in a relationship since 2007, although they first met in 1992.
Penélope first unveiled a baby bump while shooting her role in upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Puerto Rico last September.
The Spanish actress has previously described Javier as a great “friend”, although both stars are famously reticent to discuss their private life.
“One thing I don't do, I don't lie about my personal life. It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I am allergic to that,” she has said in the past.
Despite their low-key relationship, Bardem paid a public tribute to his wife when he accepted Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.
After accepting the trophy, he told the audience: 'I share this joy with my friend, my companion, my love: Penelope: I owe you a lot and I love you so much.
In other celebrity baby news, former boxing star Mike Tyson has become a father for the eighth time. According to Radar, he and wife Lakiha Spicer Tyson welcomed a little boy on Tuesday.
Ah congrats guys!
