Penny Lancaster has given birth to a baby boy, making Rod Stewart a father for the eighth time.
The couple welcomed son Aiden into the world on Wednesday at London’s Portland Hospital, weighing a healthy 7lb 12oz. They already have five-year-old son, Alastair together. The 66-year–old has six other children from 46-year-old Sarah to 15-year-old Liam. Rod told the Daily Mail he will stop at eight children, he said: ‘I can’t have any more kids, otherwise I’ll be touring until I’m 90.’ Penny is Rod’s third wife after they married in Italy in 2007.
A spokesperson for the couple said: ‘Mother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy’ Penny, 39 conceived through three attempts at IVF before finding out she was expecting her second child in August. Penny told the Daily Mail last August: ‘I couldn’t believe it. I burst into tears. I called Rod when I was still sobbing.’ IVF takes its toll and after two previous failed attempts at the treatment it was defiantly third time lucky for the pair. Rod told the Daily Mail how he reacted to the wonderful news: “I’m in the middle of a restaurant in Russia, crying.” I kept pinching myself.’ Congrats Penny and Rod.
