Peter Andre shares some of his final moments with his late brother Andrew on his ITV2 show

Thursday 03 January 2013

Peter Andre let fans watch some of his final moments with his brother Andrew, who lost his battle to kidney cancer on December 16, on his reality TV show Peter Andre: My Life this Wednesday.

The ITV2 show was momentarily pulled from the airwaves following the 52-year-olds tragic death, but aired a week later and showed Peter enjoying his final moments with his older brother.

In some poignant scenes, Peter was seen discussing his pain at watching his brother’s death deteriorate.

'We've got to pick ourselves up and just get on with it...’ he told the cameras.

'There's nothing we can do now we just have to leave it in the hands of the doctors.'

During the show Peter attempted to continue promoting his latest album, Angels & Demons. But in between interviews and album signings he would ring up to check on his brother, who was being treated at the Royal Marsden specialist hospital.

It was during one of these phone calls that Peter was told by his 52-year-old brother that the cancer had returned worse than ever.

Andrew then told the cameras his diagnosis, saying: 'The cancer's been re-diagnosed. I've still got it... Just even to brush my teeth is a real effort... it drains you, completely drains you.

'I think we've come to realise I'm never going to be rid of this... I've got cancer for the rest of my life.'

Andrew was diagnosed with cancer in February this year and within weeks had flown to the UK from his home in Australia so he could be with his family while going through treatment.

Since the spring, Andrew and his wife Magda had been living with Peter and his two children Junior and Princess at the singer's Sussex home.

When doctors told Peter that his brother didn't have long to live, he said it was the 'worst possible end to the year.'

Bosses decided to postpone the show following Andrew’s death and replaced it with Cheryl Cole: Access All Areas.

A spokesperson said: 'ITV have decided to delay the transmission of this week's episode of Peter Andre: My Life, following Andrew's tragic death.'

'After discussions with Peter's management, the producers of the show were initially planning to include a message at the start of the programme, and an end credit in memory of Andrew.'

'But after we have given this further consideration, ITV and Peter's management decided that we would postpone this episode.'
