Plan B, Elton and Paloma record charity single
Friday 04 February 2011
Rapper Plan B is set to collaborate with Sir Elton John and Paloma Faith on a charity single.
The Sun has reported that Plan B – real name, Ben Drew, is going to release a cover of his track, ‘Hard Times’ to help raise funds for the victims of last year’s floods in Pakistan.
The idea for the project first came about after the rapper directed Pakistani actor, Riz Ahmed in his film Ill Manors which is due for release later this year.
He told the Sun: “The reason why I first thought of doing the single is because of this guy, Riz Ahmed in my film – he’s Pakistani and he put on an event after the floods first happened.”
A source at the newspaper claims that Ben didn’t feel enough was being done over here to help out with the crisis.
He added: “I felt it was wrong that probably because of the s*** going on in the Middle East with the war that, as Westerners, we didn’t seem to give a f*** about Pakistani people.
“It wasn’t promoted heavily over here as it was going on. Haiti was promoted when that happened but it didn’t happen in Pakistan.”
This is not the first time the unlikely duo has collaborated together. The pair also joined forces last year when they sung a rendition of Elton’s hit, ‘I guess that’s why they call it the blues’ at the Radio 2 Electric Proms in London.
