Punched Leona says she hard

Leona Lewis has revealed that her 'hard' upbringing has helped her bounce back and move on after an attack by a crazed fan.

The Bleeding Love singer, 24, was punched in the head at a book signing in London on October 14, but refused to increase her security, despite being left shaken up.

Speaking for the first time about the attack, she told The Sun: ‘I'm from Hackney, so I'm hard. I'm not going to let something like that bother me.’

‘When you grow up where I did you learn to move on. I know how to look after myself. The part of London where I grew up has the highest crime rates in the country,’ she added.

After winning the show in 2006, Leona made a triumphant return to The X Factor to perform her new single ‘Happy’ on Sunday night.

Her attacker, Peter Kowalczyk, has been charged and committed to a psychiatric hospital under the Mental Health Act, in a move that should hopefully allow Leona to move on.
