Russell Brand deported from Japan
Monday 23 May 2011
Comedian turned actor Russell Brand was booted out of Japan on Sunday whilst attempting to join his wife of eight months, Katy Perry, who is currently on her ‘California Dreams’ tour in the country.
Katy broke the news via Twitter to her four million followers:
‘So… my husband just got deported from Japan. I am. so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favourite place #tokyodreamcrushed.’
She was pictured later looking decidedly somber after tweeting: ‘#FREE@RUSTYROCKETS! RT!!!!!!!!!!’ but proclaiming later ‘the show #MUSTGOON.’
The twenty-six year old star was caught travelling around Tokyo dressed in a risqué black and white checkered dress and suspenders, clearly showing Russell what he was missing.
Russell himself appeared to see that funny side of the situation. ‘Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick.’
The authorities declined to comment on individual cases, opting to secure the flamboyant star’s privacy.
However, it is believed that it was a combination of Russell’s previous convictions and run-ins with the law, including twelve arrests, and his controversial opinions and jokes, was thereason he was not allowed in.
Katy was clearly angered by the situation, as she believed Russell was held for an incident that happened over a decade ago, and not for the alleged attack on a photographer in Los Angeles last year.
The incident, in 2001, saw Russell being held on criminal damage and indecent exposure charges when Russell was working as a presenter for MTV, though the charges never made it to court and were dropped.
The couple reportedly spend weeks apart due to scheduling conflicts so we're sure a few more won't hurt.
