Russell meets the parents

We thought they'd be the most hedonistic couple to hit Hollywood, but it looks like Russell Brand and Katy Perry are something a little more serious.

While they've reportedly been enjoying domestic bliss at their respective homes and spotted out on dates, things got a little more serious this week as Russell met Katy's parents.

What's more, Katy's family are full-on Christians, who may not have approved of their daughter dating a former sex addict.

"Obviously when I heard that my girlfriend had preacher parents, I thought, 'well, this has got a huge scope for disaster' but it's actually been quite good so far," Russell said.

Russell, who has a fairly sordid past, said that he may have won them over with a bit of English charm, even wowing them with a Nelson Mandela quote.

''They love the old school Englishness. There's a thing where the mom said 'Nothing's impossible', and I went, 'well, of course, Nelson Mandela said that everything is impossible until it's done', and she went, 'Oh', and she really enjoyed that.''

Russell came under fire recently for bringing up the subject of Andrew Sachs, to whom he left a rude answerphone message at the beginning of the year.

If he can win over a pair of preachers despite his standard admissions, who knows what he'll conquer next?
