The Girls Aloud star talks to Closer about settling down and her new brunette look
Nicknamed “Hardcore Harding” for her love of partying, Sarah Harding, 29, has had her fair share of wild nights out, but tells Closer she’s calmed down since the early Girls Aloud days.
Sarah, originally from Stockport near Manchester, now lives in Buckinghamshire with her fiancée, DJ Tom Crane, and loves the quieter country lifestyle.
“I have the odd night out and everyone’s like ‘She’s back to her old ways!’” she tells Closer. “I have changed - I spend most of my nights at home in front of the TV with a log fire and my animals, I mean come on, give a girl a break!”
Size 8 Sarah looks fantastic and says the prospect of turning 30 in November has made her look after herself.
“I’m definitely becoming more health conscious now I’m getting older,” says the star. “I’ve been in Girls Aloud for nearly ten years, and I call them ‘girlband years’ because for every year you age three! I have regular facials and microdermabrasion treatment.
“I haven’t done Pilates for a little while because out in the sticks it’s hard to find a gym, but we go dog-walking up lots of hills! Apart from that I drink a lot of herbal tea and take all my vitamins.”
Glamming up for a Carphone Warehouse photoshoot last week for the new matte black HTC Incredible S handset, Sarah admits she was nervous about showing off her newly brunette hairstyle, but describes the vampish change as “about time!”
She says: “I’m still doing double takes in the mirror but I’ve been blonde for ages and there are many sides to Harding! You can start feeling a bit brassy being blonde, plus I can wear brighter colours now - before I was scared it would look a bit bimbo. Now I can spice myself up a little!”
Sarah and Tom, 31, have been together since 2007. With her wedding set for this summer, and a settled life in the country, busy Sarah laughs off the suggestion she might pack it all in to be a housewife in the next couple of years.
“I know I’m nearly 30, but I’m not 30 yet!” she laughs. “A lot of women these days are very career-focused, and are having children a lot later in life.
“Obviously kids are something that will come in one day, but right now my mind is on my career.”
