Sisco Gomez talks celebs!
Wednesday 06 April 2011
Dancer and choreographer Sisco Gomez has worked with some of the biggest names in pop – and gives the inside scoop on what they’re really like behind the scenes!
“Madonna is very, very involved, and it’s refreshing to have someone so into it. She’s very articulate and inspiring to be around, it’s every dancers cream to work with someone like that,” reveals Sisco, who also judges the UK TV show So You Think You Can Dance alongside Louise Redknapp. “Madonna has this massive presence and you felt it as soon as she walked into a room, even if you hadn’t seen her enter. She’s got a very big personality.
“Charlotte Church was also one of my favourite people to work with too – she’s lovely and honest.”
But he reveals not everyone is as impressive or easy to work with. “This one artist needed all this pampering and demanded looking after. I can’t name her, but I won’t put up with it! I don’t sugar coat it if I think someone’s behaviour is unacceptable.”
And he tells behind the scenes of the slick stage shows he’s involved are often bizarre! “It was the craziest thing backstage on Britney’s tour. I walked in there and there were all these oxygen tanks like something from the Matrix! She’d done it for all her dancers to help them with jetlag – they could just have this shot of pure oxygen, it was so crazy!”
Sisco Gomez will be judging the Schwarzkopf LIVE XXL and got2b Street Dance The Search Grand Final at Camden’s KOKO this Sunday (10th April). Along with Britain’s Got Talent’s Tobias Mead, Sisco will be picking the UK’s best street dancers to form a brand new dance crew.
