Stacey Solomon on her diet, fitness and X Factor
Monday 06 August 2012
As she shows off her tiny waist and slim legs, it's hard to believe that, just three months ago, Stacey Solomon was pregnant and 2st heavier. Chatting with Closer last month, she put her remarkable weight loss down to eating spinach everyday, but as we caught up with her again she confessed 'I'm not like Popeye, I don't eat a can every day - but I do enjoy eating healthily.'
Here, we catch up with the former X Factor star about her diet, relationship and X Factor...
You recently told Closer that you ate spinach every day to keep in shape after the birth of Leighton - what else did you eat?
Everyone keeps asking me about spinach since then! I really love spinach but I’m not exactly the Popeye type, eating a can every day! I’m really not a very fussy eater and will have pretty much anything. I really enjoy healthy food like fruit salads and chicken dishes but I love a good fish and chips and a curry too. We always have a take-away night on a Friday. I don’t believe in stopping what you want to eat. What’s the point?!
Did you ever snack on the kids food?
I snack on the kids food all the time! Whenever I bring out chocolate or crisps for Zac I’m always eyeing it up and asking him if we can share it. We always fight over Peperamis as we both just love them!
How did you find the time to work out? What exercise do you do?
I don’t really find any time to work out – I’m a bit of a gym-ophobic! But if I do go to the gym I prefer to do a fun class like Zumba. Check out our step-by-step Zumba guide here!
Do you think your style has changed since becoming a mum for the second time?
I don’t think so. I hope I still dress young. I’m only 22 so I try and make my style reflective of that and wear the kind of stuff that any 22 year old might wear.
What do you think about Nicole Scherzinger joining the X Factor judging panel?
I think it’s really exciting when they change the judging panel – it makes you more intrigued as to how it’s going to be different. I think she’s so pretty and I can’t wait to check out all the outfits she is going to wear. That’s definitely my favourite bit when all the judges come out and you get to see their outfits for the first time.
What's your favourite thing to do on a day off?
If I’m totally honest my favourite thing to do on a day off is absolutely nothing! I’m always so busy and I like nothing better than to just kick back and relax.
How do you find time for your relationship?
I’m so lucky as I have just got such a supportive boyfriend. He’s great and we just work together to make as much time for each other as possible.
Stacey was in Glasgow this weekend to launch the Cartoon Network Alien World Record challenge, inviting kids across the UK to make a giant Ben 10 alien out of plastic bricks and break a record for the most people involved in the construction. The event will tour a further 8 locations across the UK this summer – more details of all event locations can be found at www.ben10record.co.uk along with a sneak peak of the first episode of the new Ben 10 Omniverse series premiering on Cartoon Network on 6th October.
