The WAGs get a warning!

Friday 11 September 2009

England Manager Fabio Capello has laid down the law ahead of England’s World Cup appearance in South Africa next year. Yikes!

He’s insisted his footballer stars will not go to the tournament for a "holiday" - and warned their wives and girlfriends: "If you don't like it, don't come."

The England boss has issued strict instructions in the hope that the WAGs will not steal the show as they did in 2006 when England were playing in the finals in Baden Baden, Germany.

There was a constant media frenzy as his players' partners shopped by day, partied by night and had daily contact with their beaus.

But for the 2010 competition, it looks like things are going to change, as the England supremo has banned WAGs from staying in the squad's hotel and will designate specific times to see their husbands.

The 63-year-old Italian said: "I hope this period that we are at the World Cup will be very long.

"The players will have one day with their family, with the girls and friends.

"It will be one day a week, after each game and that is enough. That's it."

There will also be no official Football Association 'family travel package', as there was under Sven-Goran Eriksson’s management.

If any of the women would like to join their beaus’ in South Africa (well, if they haven’t been scared off by then should we say…) then they will have to make their own flight and hotel arrangements.

What do you make of Fabio’s World Cup plans? Agree with his firm but fair rules? Or are they a little too extreme? Let us know…

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

Totally agree with him! Its not about the wags, its about football and winning the world cup!!
And so they should pay for their own flights and hotel, their hubby's/boyfriend work for the England team, not them!
The boys will be there to do their job,one day a week after a game is fair enough to spend with their family's,they need to stay focused on the game, and if they don't like it,they should get another job! : )
And i can't see how the wags can complain....after all,its their hubbys jobs that keep them in their louboutin heels and armani dresses!!..

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

i agree with Clarabella. it's their jobs to do this. Does Ashley cole show up on xfactor when Cheryl's there?!! NO! so she shouldn't do the same! if they don't like it then why don't they find something else to do. like be with the rest of their families. yeah i get that they want to support the boyfriends/husbands but they can't go snatchin up all the attention!

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

I think its only right that they dont go as theyl only be a distraction as for footing their own bill so they bloody well should, why should otherwise we would end up paying for it through ticket and shirt sales which are disgustingly overpriced anyway.

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

Love this guy, finally a manager with a bit of sense!! Most of the WAGS have only become famous due to their hubby's footie skills, overpaid players who don't like the rules can go home!!
clarabella I couldn't agree more, since hubby's wagecheck is big enough he can afford to pay for their separte flights and accomodation - it's not a free holiday for WAGS - time for the players to start concentrating on their football instead of worrying about getting laid lol!!!

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

i dont know how 'racheal' can say after all it is the footballers that keep the wives in armania dresses when cheryl is a singer in the band (she was alot more famous before ashley was) girls aloud, and is also a judge for the x factor... colleen did her own dress range with asda and promoted different clothes and helped with many of charitys... victoria beckham has been a singer... model... for many of companies armania calvin klein ... i do agree that they should pay for their own holidays as the guys are working whilst the girls are having fun for free

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

Tinkerbel.x - most WAGS weren't famous before their footballer hubby's/partners and only became known through them, I seriously doubt the likes of Vicky B has to pay for her Armani dresses seeing as she models for him, most celebs are sent designer label clothes to wear free of charge just so the designer gets more publicity - it's always been that way, especially in Hollywood!!!
The point is the manager doesn't want their fame/notoriety and flapping eyelashes getting more attention than the overpaid footballers there to play in the World Cup -he's got enough problems as it is lol!!!
If wifey's got the money she can pay to go to S.A, stay in a hotel way away from hubby's and only see him maybe for an hour or so - might as well stay at home and let them get on with it lol, it's not like they're going to be gone long!!!

RE: The WAGs get a warning!

Okay first we get someone who isn't even English managing our team and then he thinks he has the right to dictate to family men when and where they can see their wives wtf, Coleen is pregnent aswell. The team have won us trophies when these rules were'nt in place what gives him the idea that they won't this time???
