Tom Cruise cancels his 50th birthday party

Tom Cruise’s 50th birthday celebrations haven’t quite gone to plan following the shock decision by his wife Katie Holmes to file divorce papers.
Tom had originally planned to commemorate reaching half a century with a birthday bash attended by friends and family, included his estranged wife and their daughter Suri, in the family apartment in New York.
The star has been in Iceland filming for his new movie, Oblivion.
A source told a US magazine: “The plan was to spend his birthday with Katie and Suri in New York City.
“Then they were going to fly to California where he is going to finish Oblivion and spend time there.”
Instead he returned straight to Los Angeles to spend a “sombre” and “very, very sad” day with his adopted teenage children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, Isabella and Connor.
Connor has been openly supportive of his father this week, tweeting “#LaFamilia Always. Friends Come And Go, But Family Is Forever.”
According to the insider, Tom is speaking to Suri on the phone “several times a day.”
Katie and Suri were seen venturing out for ice cream yesterday in New York. Katie was smiling and told reporters “I'm alright”.
