What a week for X Factor
Monday 12 September 2011
Is it just us or has your Saturday night plans seemed to have taken a nosedive recently too? Well, who can blame us when TV is just THIS good at the moment.
And it starts with X Factor. What a weekend for great auditions, right? Starting with Lascel Woods. He lit up the stage, got a standing ovation and reduced Kelly to tears with his emotional rendition of Kings Of Leon's Use Somebody. The 20-year-old college student from Brighton left the judges astounded as he performed a note perfect audition.
Lascel was in and out of foster care since he was four years old due to his mothers Bi-Polar but he still enjoys a beautiful relationship with her - even bringing her to his audition, the first time she will ever see him perform.
Before his audition he said: “I had to go into foster care because of my mum’s disorder – she suffers from bipolar. I suppose it made me feel a bit lost.
“Having music was always something that I had just to escape and through that I felt free. My mum’s here today to support me and I love her to bits. We’ve always been really, really close but she’s never actually seen me perform.
“I hope today will be the start of something good for me, it’s such an amazing opportunity for me to move forward.”
After his touching performace Tulisa asked Lascel to bring his mum on stage which instantly reduced Kelly to tears.
“That was absolutely stunning, and I think for me more so than the beautiful singing, the great pitch, the great timing, more importantly than that I believed every single word that you sang to us. Well done.”
Louis added: “You should be so happy, that was an amazing performance. You’ve got something really, really special.”
On Sunday, we had another influx of great auditions with 16-year-old Amelia Lily standing out from the rest. Blowing the judges away with her soulful rendition of Beverly Knights A Piece Of My Heart, Amelia is definitely one to watch.
Tulisa said: ‘People work their whole lives and take forever to get to that level that you are at now, you’ve come on that stage so much older than you years.

She added: ‘That was amazing you blew up the stage, your energy was off the chain, well done.'
Gary was the next judge to compliment the young starlet, he
Kelly told her: 'I'm still having a hard time understanding that you're 16-years-old with such a natural gift, your energy was great, you've got this big beautiful voice with so much soul beyond your years, you were born to do this.'
She later added: 'You have only just scratched the surface, that's what's got me so amazed.'
And Gary told the teen: 'This is the reason I wanted to sit on this chair, to discover talent like this.'
