The lowdown on this year's X Factor!

 The usual combo of talent and weirdos have auditioned for The X Factor this year.

Show insiders promise that this time round the hopefuls are more talented, flamboyant and deluded than ever before.

Watch out for the male version of Lady GaGa (first picture) who belts out Poker Face in the judges’ company.

Tina Turner fan Hazel (second picture), a granny who throws herself into a routine is another ahem character we will encounter.

Other wannabes include Michael from London who came dressed as Michael Jackson but sadly lacked the deceased star’s talent.

A nursing home worker and single mum studying law are reportedly amongst the good acts on this series. Boy band FYE and camp duo Diva Fever are other hopefuls touted as impressive. And Louis Walsh has apparently been raving about a bloke called Wagner and a woman who reminds him of Sinitta.

Meanwhile, last year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry has said that Derek Hough is perfect for Cheryl Cole.

Speaking to Closer, he told of how Derek was “so sweet and caring around her” backstage when he went to see her perform in London.

Another X Factor winner has also had his say – anyone remember Steve Brookstein?

The Daily Star quotes Steve as saying: “…I think the whole thing is staged. They already know who they want to win this year’s show. I think this series will be the last one and next year Simon Cowell will be doing it in America”

The X Factor begins on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
