X Factor's most memorable moments

Wednesday 13 October 2010

That’s it, the live shows have started and the nation has gone X Factor mad once again, actually - it’s gone crazy! Every year the show gets bigger and better, and this year has been no exception!

It’s the programme that everyone talks about, as it grips the nation year after year. And that got us thinking here at Closer. Hmmm, what have been the most memorable moments, good and bad, since the show started seven series ago?

Well, after much deliberation and a massive shortlist, we eventually decided on fifteen of our favourite moments. So here we go…

Jedward
The first thing that sprung to mind was of course, the loveable (or hateable) twins- Jedward. The boys provided us with non-stop entertainment since they walked on at the Dublin auditions, but the stand out moment for us was their Ghostbusters tribute – let’s face it, anyone who dances on stage with inflatable ghosts deserves a place on our list.

A Jedward fan himself, Calvin Harris, made his way into our fifteen most memorable moments too. The Scot DJ ran on to the stage whilst Jedward performed Ice Ice Baby, with a pineapple on his head, we think Calvin gets top marks for this stunt, pure banter!

Rachel Adedeji

From the same series that produced the troublesome twins, Rachel Adedeji, makes the list for her hilarious stack when she found out that Dannii was her mentor. Sorry Rachel, but it was very entertaining.

Dannii

Talking of Dannii Minogue, her comments to Danyl Johnson in series 6 are definitely up there; however, they were memorable for the wrong reasons. The Oz judge made remarks about his sexuality and they went down like a lead balloon. And that was just in the first week!

Edna

We all love it when the judges get a piece of their own medicine and there have been a couple of hilarious moments over the past seven years. 87 year old Edna, Simon Cowell’s biggest nemesis gave him a good old ticking off for laughing at her daughter’s audition, so much so that she even received an apology from the big man! For that Edna we salute you.

Sharon Osbourne

And who can forget when Sharon Osbourne threw a whole glass of water over poor-old Louis for his comments about Journey South’s version of Angels? Brilliant!

Cheryl Cole

Wardrobe malfunctions are great. Remember when Simon told Cheryl to sit-up in her chair as her dress was too revealing? A quality moment from the X Factor past!

And then there was Steve! He turned up to his audition and gave the judges a big (or not so big) surprise. It seemed that Steve was a little bit too happy to be performing on the stage in front of the female judges and caused quite a stir. Nevertheless it gave us all a laugh and definitely deserves a place in the most memorable moment’s list.

Leona

Now, the X Factor was created to find a genuine superstar so despite all of the funny memorable moments there have been some knockout performances too. We will kick it off with Leona Lewis and her breathtaking version of the ‘Bodyguard’ hit ‘I Will Always Love You’ in the series five final, which won her the X Factor crown and the £1 million recording contract.

Alexandra Burke

Guest duets in the X Factor finals have given the shows a real edge too and have produced some purely magical moments.  Two of those that stand out for us and have made our list were; Alexandra Burke and Beyonce with ‘Listen’ in series five and Olly Murs and Robbie Williams singing ‘Angels’ in series six – even though Robbie got his timing a bit wrong, it was still a cracker!

Chico

And then there was Chico. Yes remember him! ‘Its Chico time’ still lives on in many peoples memories and I don’t think we will ever forget him. He is practically X Factor royalty now.

Ant and Seb

Two performances that have stuck in our minds and are worthy of being the most memorable were Ant & Seb’s version of Peter Andre’s ‘Mysterious Girl’ back in 2008. The pair was hilarious as Seb chirped in with ‘Move ya Body’ randomly every so often, however, the pair were distraught when they were rejected and had to be removed by security. It did make us all laugh though!

And then there was the performance of the worst auditionees from the past five years performed on last years final.  A truly hilarious moment that will never be forgotten!

Abby and Lisa

And finally, arguably the best memorable moment from the X Factor. It should be fresh in your minds as it only happened just weeks ago. Ablisa or (Abby and Lisa) stole the show at the Birmingham auditions. An X Factor first, Abby actually punched her supposed ‘best mate’ square in the face. Ouch! It might have hurt Lisa, but it definitely hurt me just because I was laughing so much.

So there you go… X Factor most memorable moments done! We cant wait for over the coming year to see what else the reality show will chuck up. All we know is that we can’t wait.
