A star is born: our round up of the A-list babies set to grab the headlines in 2013
Thursday 03 January 2013
The end of 2012 saw a slew of announcements revealing that some of our favourite celebrities are expecting A-list offspring.
And with the news that Kim and Kanye will welcome their first child this year, 2013 is set to be the biggest year yet for celebrity babies with a bumper crop of littl'uns making their way into the world.
Can any baby rival the uber-cuteness of Harper Beckham?
While there's little debate that the new baby Windsor and future heir to the throne, due to Kate and William in early summer, will be the most famous of them all there will be stiff competition from the offspring of Lara Stone, Lily Allen, Peaches Geldof and now Kim Kardashian…to name but a few.
Here we take a look at the parents-to-be whose new arrivals will be looking to give Harper Beckham, Suri Cruise and the Brangelina brood a run for their money in 2013.
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
While Jessica has not yet made an offiicial announcement that she is expecting her second child, this picture - posted on December 30th with the message 'Bumpin' and Proud' - is confirmation enough for us.

Her new arrival will join big sister Maxwell, born in May of last year, and no doubt be another much loved addition to the family for Simpson and her fiancee Eric.
The pregnancy news was initially reported in a US publication at the end of November, with reports suggesting Jessica is due in May 2013.
2012 was a turbulent year for the songstress and her family due to her parents separation after 34 years of marriage amid reports that Joe had cheated on his wife with several young men, a claim the family has vehemently denied.
While Jessica, who is a spokeswoman for WeightWatchers, had resolved to shed her pregnancy weight in time for Christmas, her news has put paid to any weight loss plan - and like any mum to be she is happy and proud to flaunt that newly rounded tum!
It is reported that her partnership with WeightWatchers will be put on hold during the pregnancy and Jessica will re-start after she gives birth.
Lara Stone and David Walliams
David Walliams took to his twitter page in November to announce the happy news that he was expecting a child with wife of two year's Lara Stone.
It is believed the Dutch supermodel, 29, will give birth in May. It will be the first child for the pair, though they do have a much loved dog named Bert who often accompanies the couple to showbiz events and dinner dates.
Beauty, brains and a sense of humour - the Walliams-Stone baby will have it all
Talking about the pet last year, Lara said he had calmed her broodiness 'I know people with children are going to hate me, but he has filled a void, that instinctive 'I have to take care of something' feeling. I was quite broody, but now I take care of Bert and it has settled the broody thing for the moment.''
Lara and David wed at Claridge's in London in May 2010 after a nine month romance. In a recent interview David shared his delight at the news, saying 'It’s lovely, it’s a wonderful thing. We were just thinking about it now we’re married and I’m quite old – I’m 41 – so I thought I better get on with it.'
With close friends in the world of fashion and comedy, this wee one will no doubt have a long list of potential celebrity godparents including Walliams' close friend and comedy partner, Matt Lucas, and pal Elton John.

The pair have already revealed they will be opting for a more traditional name than some of their fellow celebs, with David saying 'It’s a bit of a curse if you’re called Apple or Peaches or something like that. I think we’re just going to go with a normal name.'
Coleen and Wayne Rooney
Coleen and Wayne have announced that their three-year-old son Kai will be joined by a new little brother in May of 2013.
Coleen, 26, made the official announcement on her twitter page in October, saying she wanted to be the person to break the news to fans.

But she hasn't let her pregnancy interrupt the fun for herself or her son Kai. The pair played dress up as they celebrated Christmas at home in Cheshire before jetting off to their holiday home in Barbados.
As Closer reported, Wayne and Coleen were delighted to discover they were expecting again with a source telling the magazine the couple were 'wanting to get pregnant for almost two years, so they’re overjoyed. Coleen’s shed so many tears over the news, though she’s putting it down to her hormones, too.'
Catherine Middleton and Prince William
The news that William and Kate were expecting their first child, announced on December 3rd 2012, made headlines around the globe. But after the initial celebration it was revealed the couple had been forced to announce the news far earlier than the standard 3-month mark, due to Kate suffering from Hyperemesis Graviddarum, or acute morning sickness.
Kate and William leaving hospital
While the Duchess of Cambridge is now out of hospital and spent Christmas with her family, the condition may affect her throughout the pregnancy.
While they currently live in Anglesey, Wales, the pair are expected to move into Kensington Palace in the Spring.
The due date of the future heir to the throne has not yet been confirmed but whenever the little Prince or Princess arrives, the world will be waiting with baited breath for a glimpse of the baby belonging to the couple who made the country fall back in love with the Royal family!
Lily and Sam Cooper
While their second child was due in December, Lily is sitting pretty at home and waiting for the new arrival. A prolific tweeter, she shared her final Christmas as a family of three with the world voicing the standard family frustrations when she posted 'End of my tether. #christmas #family #fuckingpregnant #aaaarrrrggggghhhhh'!
The married couple gave birth to their first child, Ethel Mary, in November 2011 and were soon pregnant with their second child, with the pregnancy becoming public in July of last year.

Lily, 27, has kept a low profile since becoming a mother and now lives in the Cotswolds with husband Sam.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
The only celebrity couple on our list with a chance of rivalling the Royal baby is the product of one of the most famous relationships in the world, the partnership of reality TV star Kim and global superstar rapper and designer, Kanye West.
Kim on New Year's Eve, the day after the big announcement
The official announcement came on December 30th, when Kanye interrupted his own performance to give a shout out to his 'baby-mamma' and with that, the Kimye offspring became the subject of headlines, tweets and conversations the world over.
Will it be another K name for the Kardashian klan (that's Kim, Kris, Kendall, Kourtney, Khloe - and Kanye)? Will it become bff's with Blue Ivy Carter? Can it ever compete with the blingtastic lifestyle of the Carey/Canon twins? The list goes on...
Will Kim be asking Jay-Z's missus for pregnancy advice?
But back to the facts. The couple have been dating around nine months and rumour has it that Kim may still be legally married to ex-husband Kris Humphries when she gives birth. However what began as what many considered to be a showmance has become a fully fledged A-list pairing, proving the haters wrong, and one thing is for sure - this little one is in store for some very big things...
