Halloween: What to wear/do/scare!

Thursday 27 October 2011

Here at Closer we love any excuse to get dressed up and stuff ourselves with sweets, so, naturally, we're getting really excited for Halloween!

To get into the spirit we’ve come up with loads of ideas to give you a Halloween weekend to remember.

Dressing Up

It’s really not acceptable any more to just chuck a sheet over your head and call yourself a ghost, make sure you really impress this Halloween with our spooky costume ideas.

Popular costumes for this year are scary versions of fairytale characters, you could go for a zombie Alice in

Halloween

Wonderland, or a deadly Dorothy, how about Little Dead Riding Hood? You’ll certainly look unhappily ever after!

Take inspiration from Dita Von Teese with this gothic burlesque style devil costume, get it online for just £26.98 at www.fancydressnation.co.uk

Halloween

For kids, a lot of supermarkets have lots of really good, and cheap costumes to save you hand-making costumes for your tiny terrors, leaving you more time to focus on fun. You can get this skeleton costume for just a fiver from AsdaHalloween

Films

If you’re not going out this Halloween why not take a trip to the cinema and see if you can brave Paranormal Activity 3. The prequel to the other 2 Paranormal Activity films will definitely have you hiding behind your popcorn, with a terrifying demonic entity causing things to go bump in the night.

However if you fancy staying in for the trick-or-treaters why not snuggle up on the sofa and watch an old classic like Halloween, scary Michael Myers will have you hiding behind a cushion for sure! Or there’s always Freddie Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street to make sure you’ll be sleeping with the light on. You could even scare yourself silly with The Shining, but whatever you do don’t watch them on your own!

Halloween

If you fancy some more fun Halloween viewing go for the fabulously camp Rocky Horror Picture Show, it’s brilliant for more fancy dress ideas. Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas is ideal if you’re spending Halloween with kids.

Food

We love Halloween because it’s another one of those brilliant times of year like Easter and Christmas, where we get another perfect excuse to scoff loads of sweet treats. Don’t leave it til the last minute though and end up dashing off to the supermarket to pick up a few dregs for the trick or treaters, get your sweets in early but try and avoid eating them all before they arrive!

Why not visit www.sweetheaven-online.co.uk and get your favourites delivered to save you the hassle, they have everything from cute pumpkin lollies to eyeball shaped bubblegum, and mega sweet bags for fuss-free trick or treating.
